A fine winter’s day saw six contenders in the women’s 18 hole stroke competition resulting in the following results. Winner: Kerryn Wagstaff with 98-22-76 and runner-up Sally Stone 112-35-77. The putting was won by Norma Begely on a count-back from Kerryn Wagstaff with 32 putts. The best gross score of 98 and the monthly medal were won by Kerryn Wagstaff.
Men’s 4 week18 hole stableford competition round 1 was won by Rick Johnston, 37 points, who also netted a nearest the pin on the 9 th /18 th hole. Runner-up Bill Buckley, another nearest the pin winner on 1st/10 th hole, scored 36 points. A grade player Bernie Coller was nearest the pin on 1 st /10 th for his grade.
Men’s 18 hole stableford was again the only competition played this week due to wet, windy weather. The winner was Darren Gill with 37 points and runner-up John Nankervis scored 34 points. Bernie Coller was the only a Grader nearest the pin on 9 th /18 th hole. Bill Buckley in B Grade was nearest the pin on both holes in contention.
Men’s 18 hole stableford was the only competition played this week due to wet, windy weather and the 7 th fairway mostly underwater. The winner was Bernie Coller with 35 points and runner-up Ian Richardson scored 31 points. Ian was nearest the pin on 1 st /10 th and Bernie was nearest on 9 th /18 th . In B Grade Lance Thomas had a nearest the pin on 1 st /10 th .
Women’s 9 holes stroke was cancelled.
Men’s 18 holes stroke round was won by Don Wagstaff with 63 nett, which also meant that he won the monthly medal. Runner-up on a count-back from Bill Buckley was Darren Gill with 69 nett. NTP 1/10 A Grade was Don Wagstaff and in B Grade it was Bill Buckley. NTP 9/18 Chris Hansen in A Grade and Bill Buckley was an accurate driver again for B Grade.
Women’s 2-person Ambrose was won by Vicki Hannah and Cheryle Polgeest with 80-11¾ – 68¼ and runners-up Margaret Smith and Sami Oguzhan scored 85-13¾-71¼ . The putting competition was wonby Jean Hansen and Stacey Thomas, having won no other trophies, with 30 putts.
Men’s 2-person Ambrose competition was won by Darren Gill and Bill Buckley 63/56 ¼ nett and the runners-up were Neil Hinds and Brian McKenzie with 68/61 ¼ nett. A Grade NTP on 1 st /10 th was Neil Hinds and on 9 th /18 th Darren Gill was the closest. B Grade NTP on 1 st /10 th was Lance Thomas.
Women’s 9 holes Pinehurst was replaced with a Stableford competition played in very windy weather and was won by Jean Hansen with 15 points. Runner-up Dawn Thomas scored 14 points and next best was Vicki Hannah with 13 points.
