Women’s 9 holes stroke. In A Grade Sandra Toone’s winning score was 48-14-34 followed by runner-up Stacey Thomas with 43-8-35. In B grade Caroline Wren had a win with 52-18-34 and runner-up Jeanette Dodds scored 54-18-36. Ro0byn Lamson won the putting competition with 15 putts.
Women’s Gentsomes competition was won by Janice McKenzie and Caroline Wren with 48 points and runners-up Marg Smith and Joy Russ scored 43 points. . Next best was Kerryn Wagstaff and Jean Hansen with 38 points, on a count-back from Vicki Hannah and Shirley Amery.
Women’s 2-person Ambrose competition was won by Sandra Toone and Dawn Thomas with 81-14-67, and runners-up Stacey Thomas and Jan Shaw scored 79-11¼ -67¾ . Next best was Vicki Hannah and Jean Hansen with 83-11¼ -68 ¾ and the putting prize, not having won another trophy, was awarded to Cheryle Polgeest and Joy Russ with 24 putts.
The women played 9 holes stroke using only irons. Janice McKenzie won A grade with 50- 12 ½ -37 ½, and runner-up Sandra Kent scored 52-10½ – 41½ . The winner of B Grade, Caroline Wren had 57-18- 39 nett and the runner-up, Marie Murnane had 62-22 ½ – 39 ½. The putting was won by Shirley Amery with 17 putts.
Women’s Stableford competition was won in A Grade by Sandra Toone with 37 points and runner-up Janice McKenzie scored 36 points. In B Grade, Cheryle Polgeest had 30 points to win, with Jan Shaw scoring 28 points as runner-up. Jan also had a nearest the pin on 1 st /10 th for her grade, and Stacey Thomas was successful in A Grade.
Women’s partner’s game of Pinehurst. Gladys Riches and Margaret Smith won with a score of 53-12-41 on a countback from Sami Oguzhan and Sandra Toone with exactly the same score. Jean Hansen and Dawn Thomas won the putting with 19 putts.
Our women’s SWDA division 5 played at Anglesea against Torquay (2) and lost 2/3. Our winning players were Vicki Hannah 7/5 and Stacey Thomas 2 up.
Bob Bedson won the chicken run with 21 points. Richard Stone was runner up with 20 points.
18 holes stroke competition saw Margaret Smith play to her handicap to win A Grade 88/68 and the runner up was Janice McKenzie with 97/71. Janice also won the A grade putting with 28 putts. In B grade Jan Shaw won with 103/71 and Sami Oguzhan was runner up with 108/73. Jeanette Dodds had 30 putts to win B grade putting. Margaret Smith scooped the pool by winning the Monthly Medal, best gross, and the first round of the Silverspoon and Mona McLeod brooch.
Five of our women headed to Ocean Grove to play in the Otway Pennant Shield Day. Martha Macintyre won the best score of the day with 34 stablepoints on a countback from Suzanne Neill from Lorne. Lyn Box had a wonderful shot to win the nearest the pin on the 1 st , only to miss getting a hole in one by 7 cms. Lorne won the shield and Apollo Bay had the next best team score.
The women played a team game of Gentsomes. The winning team were Nelly O’meara and Dawn Thomas with 36 points. Vicki Hannah and Marie Murnane were runners up with 33 points and the next best team were Sami Oguzhan and Marlene Verey with 29 points.
