Women’s 18- hole stroke round. In A Grade this was won by Sandra Toone with 98-30-68 and on a count-back from Sandra, Margaret Smith was runner-up with 89-21-68. The B Grade Winner, Caroline Webster, visiting her family in Apollo Bay, scored 105-31-74. Runner-up was Faith Morrissy with 110-35-75. Putting in A Grade was won by Margaret Smith with 29 Putts, whilst in B Grade, Jan Shaw took the honour with 31 putts. Stacey Thomas and Vicki Hannah played a good round with Stacey scoring 86/70 and Vicki 84/69.
Men’s stroke 4-weeker round 1. The A Grade winner was Willie Kiffoto82-17-65 and Ian Richardson with 83-18-65 was runner-up. Nearest the
pin 1 st /10 th was Don O’Meara and on 9 th /18 th Bill Buckley was successful. In B Grade Bernie Coller won with 77-19-58 and runner-up, Peter Forbes scored 87-23-64. Peter Forbes was also closest to the flag for B Grade on 1 st /10 th hole.
Women’s 9 holes Ambrose competition “bring a friend day” was won by members Joycie Henderson and Dawn Thomas 40-18 ½ – 21 ½
with member runners-up Norma Begely and Jean Hansen 42-16 ½ – 25 ½ . Member and friend combination was won by Jeanette Dodds and Di Gilam
with 45-20 ¾ – 24 ¼ and runners-up in this category were Sandra Toone and Debi Coghlan 44-18 ¾ – 25 ¾ . The overall putting competition was won by Gail Darling and Cheryle Polgeest with 12 putts.
Men’s Stableford competition. Winner in A Grade was David Ivens 35 points, while runner-up Darren Gill, on a count-back from Don Wagstaff had 33 points.. In B grade, Ray Matthews won with 33 points and Peter Forbes was the runner-up, also on 33 points. Nearest the pin A Grade, 1 st /10 th was Craig McKenzie and in B Grade Doug Honey was nearest. On
9 th /18 th A grade Bill Buckley was successful and for B grade Rod Beecroft took the honour.
Women’s 18- hole 4 BBB, Pink Cancer Day fund-raiser was won by Caroline Wren and Stacey Thomas with 39 points. Runners-up Kerryn Wagstaff and Sandra Toone, on a count-back from Adele Rowarth and Dawn Thomas, scored 37 points. We raised $328.30 for the Tee Off for Breast Cancer Trials, which is a great effort for a small club such as ours.
Men’s Stroke with Mulligans 18 holes was won in A Grade by Bill Buckley 55 and runner-up Don Wagstaff, 61.. Nearest the pin 1 st /10 th A Grade was Bill Buckley and in B Grade Brian McKenzie took the honour. B Grade winner was Bernie Coller 58 and runner-up Bruce Thomas 60. The 19/10 chicken run was won by Ian Begely with 12 points and 26/10 Peter Forbes and Jill Fowler both scored 18 points.
Women’s 9 holes stroke competition held in beautiful sunshine was won in A Grade by Vicki Hannah 34nett Runner-up Margaret Smith 35nett. In B Grade, Maureen Vesey won with 35 ½nett and Runner-up Sandra Toone 37 ½nett . The putting was won by Caroline Wren with 15 putts. Winchelsea Memorial Bowl result in last week's edition was incorrect. The team members from Apollo Bay were Stacey Thomas, Sandra Toone and Margaret Smith, they were Runners-up to Lorne. Apologies to Margaret for the slip up..
Women’s Memorial Shield Day was cancelled due to a lack of visiting clubs.
Men’s Stroke and Monthly Medal Winner in A Grade was John Nankervis with 63nett while runner-up Colin Coleman had 65nett. In B grade Bob Hansen with 68nett won and Ray Matthews with 69nett was the runner-up. Nearest the pin A Grade, 1 st /10 th was Colin Coleman and no one else managed to get on the greens. Monthly Medal was won by John Nankervis.
