Men’s 2 man Ambrose was won by Richard Stone and Don Wagstaff 6 ¾ – 59 ¼ with runners-up John Nankervis and Bernie Coller 13 ¼ – 63 ¾ with Nearest the pins: A Grade on 1 st /10 th Richard Stone and in B Grade,. Brian McKenzie was the closest on both 1 st /10 th and 9 th /18 th
9 holes Mixed event stableford. The winner in the men’s section was Richard Stone with 18 points and Runner-up Don Wagstaff scored 16. Vicki Hannah was winner for the women with 16 points on a count-back from runner-up Janice McKenzie.
The second round of the Women’s 18 holes Stableford Championship was postponed due to a threatening storm and will be played next week. The 3 rd round will be played consecutively with the 1 st round of the club Championships on 31 st October.
Men’s 18 holes Stableford one Grade was won by Colin Coleman with 40 points. Runner-up Rick Johnston scored 35 points and Richard
Stone was the most accurate on the day with a nearest the pin on 9 th /18 th hole.
The women held their Memorial Shield Day which was well attended with representatives from various district clubs. The weather was fine, the course looked inviting and the members did a great job of catering. The shield winners were Lorne with 78 points and were represented by Wendy Hutchison, Lesley Goldsworthy and Danni De Bon. A Grade individual winner was Fiona Fitzpatrick from Curlewis with 30 points
and Rosie Young representing Ocean Grove was runner-up with 27 points. B Grade winner was Wendy Hutchison with 32 points and Runner-up Danni De Bon 29 Points on a count-back from Caz Bartholomew. Rosie Young, from Lorne was the only contender for nearest the pin.
Men’s Club Championship Round 2. In A Grade this was won by Andre Hill 66 nett with runner-up David Ivens scoring 67 nett. In B grade Denis Morrissy had a scorching 56 nett and runner-up with 65 nett on a count-back from Guy Permezel, was Richard Stone. Nearest the pins: A Grade on 1 st /10 th was Alistair McKenzie and in B Grade, Richard Stone, who was also nearest on 9 th /18 th for B Grade. On the 9 th /18 th A grade nearest was E. Morrissy.
Club Championship standing: Equal 1 st are Darren Gill and Andrew Hill on 155 in A Grade with Alistair McKenzie 3 rd on 161 and Don Wagstaff and Richard Stone 4 th with 162. In B Grade Richard Stone leads with 162 and running 2 nd is Ray Matthews on 174.
The first round of the Women’s 18 holes Stableford Championship was won in A Grade by Stacey Thomas with 33 points. Runner-up, Sandra
Toone scored 29 points, while B Grade competitor Faith Morrissy won the B grade section with 28 points on a count-back from runner-up Jean Hansen and Jeanette Dodds. Nearest the pin in A grade was Vicki Hannah and in B grade, Caroline Wren.
Men’s Pinehurst Pairs Stroke competition winners were John Nankervis and Bernie Coller with nett 59. The runners-up were Richard Stone
and Brian McKenzie with 61 nett. Richard Stone achieved nearest the pin on 9 th /18 th and Ray Matthews was nearest on 1 st /10 th hole.
Women’s 9 holes stroke was won by Jean Hansen with 52-20½-31½. Runner-up Sally Stone scored 50-18-32 and the overall putting competition was won by Robyn Lamson 15 putts, on a count-back from Jean Hansen
