Women’s 18- hole 2-person Ambrose competition was held in pleasant weather. Cheryle Polgeest and Faith Morrissy were the winners with 67 nett. Runners-up on a count-back from Dawn Thomas and Sami Oguzhan, were Joycie Henderson and Janice McKenzie with 69 ¾ nett. The putting competition was won by Helen Stevens and Caroline Wren with 22.
Men’s stroke 4-weeker round 3. The winner was Brian McKenzie 78-20-58 and Manuel Quintana with 92-28-64 was runner-up. Nearest the pin 1 st /10 th was Ray Matthews.
9- hole women’s competition all par 3 holes. The winner in A grade was Janice McKenzie with 39-14-25 and runner-up was Dawn Thomas who scored 41-14½- 25½. The B grade winner was Debbie Coghlan 44-20-24 and runner-up Nelly O’Meara had 48- 22½ – 25½. The putting competition was won by Kerryn Wagstaff with 15 putts.
Chicken run was won by Brian McKenzie with 19 points.
Women’s 18- hole stroke and Monthly Medal round. In A Grade this was won by Sandra Toone with 102-29-73 and on a count-back from Helen Stevens, Kerryn Wagstaff with 101-25-76 was runner-up. The B Grade Winner, Dawn Thomas, scored 98-30-68, which also gained her the monthly medal. Runner-up was Jan Shaw with 107-33-74. Putting in A Grade was won by Sandra Toone with 30 Putts, whilst in B Grade, Dawn Thomas took the honour with 30 putts. Vicki Hannah had the best gross score with 93 gross.
Men’s stroke 4-weeker round 2. The winner was Bernie Coller 82-18-65 and Peter Forbes with 87-23-64 was runner-up. Nearest the pin 1 st /10 th was Don Wagstaff and in B Grade, Peter Forbes was successful.
Eleven pairs played in a 2-person Ambrose competition before enjoying lunch, sweeps and watching the race. The winners were Bob Bedson and Vicki Hannah with 31-3 ¼ 27 ¾ and runners-up with 34-4 ¼ – 29 ¾ were Kerryn and Don Wagstaff. Vicki Hannah and Bob Bedson also both had nearest the pin on 1 st /10 th hole and Bruce Thomas was close on the 9 th /18 th .
Women’s 9 holes stroke One Grade only played and this was won by Jeanette Dodds 52-19-33. On a count-back from Jeanette, Dawn Thomas was runner-up with 48-15-33. Joy Russ won the putting with 14 putts.

454 defeated Peterborough 442. Best scores for Apollo Bay were Bewley Marlow 40 points, Bernie Coller 38 and Don Wagstaff, Rocky Dimieri and Bob Bedson all with 37 points. Best score for the women was Kerryn Wagstaff with 34 points. Next Sunday (the Men’s championships have been postponed until 18/11) the Coastal Challenge will be played against Peterborough in Apollo Bay 10 am shotgun start.
