Coastal Challenge held at Peterborough resulted in a win for Peterborough 286 defeating Apollo Bay 257. Good scores: Richard Stone 36, Colin Coleman 34, Geoff Vesey 34 and Don Wagstaff 31 who lost on a count-back. Six women players participated with the best score from Kerryn Wagstaff who lost on a count-back 31.

9 holes Mixed event stableford. The winner in the men’s section was Richard Stone with 18 points and Runner-up Don Wagstaff scored 16. Vicki Hannah was winner for the women with 16 points on a count-back from runner-up Janice McKenzie.
The teams were unlucky in the finals at Winchelsea. The Handicap Green team went down 3/2 to Bannockburn. Good scores for the Bay were D.Ivens 6/4 & Jason Newcombe 4/3.
The Div. 5 Scratch team also lost to Queens Park 4/3. Good scores were Phil Kennedy 3/1,Ailstair McKenzie 2/1, Guy Holman won on the 19th.
Apollo Bay women won this round of pennant 4/1 from Lara which left them at 3rd position on the ladder, as there is no final in the women’s pennant that is their final position.
Men’s pennant not held on Mother’s Day. Women’s pennant at Winchelsea G.C. was cancelled because heavy rain had flooded the greens. The women didn’t waste their trip to Winch and went to the movies.
Three men from Apollo Bay defended their 2018 win in the Winchelsea Shield but missed the mark coming second this year. David Wagstaff had 37pts, Jason Newcombe had 34pts and Don Wagstaff 33pts.
Men’s Div 5 scratch have made the finals with a win against Queenscliff 4½- 2½, good scores Scott Fowler 6/5, Darren Gill 5/4, Don Wagstaff 5/3, Bob Bedson 3/2, Rocky Dimieri square. The final will be played at Winchelsea on Sunday 19th May.
Handicap Pennant Green also have won their way into the finals again. They defeated Queens Park 3½ – 1½ Good scores, David Ivens 2/1, John Nankervis 1up, David Wagstaff, JasonNewcombe and Willy Kifoto all squared their matches. They are also playing their final at Winchelsea on the 19 May.
Women’s Pennant results, Apollo Bay def The Sands 4/1, good scores, Vicki Hannah 3/2, Stacey Thomas 2up, Margaret Smith 4/3 and emergency Janice McKenzie 6/4.
Vicki, Stacey and Margaret travelled to Lorne for the Miss Lascelles Shield and came home the winners with 78 points, 6 points clear of the field. Vicki also won Division 1 with 32points and were impressed with the trophies they received which were sponsored by the Pharmacy and Movida.
Mixed 4BBB. The winners were the brother and sister team of Craig McKenzie and Vicki Hannah with 44 points. Craig also won nearest the in. Their parents, Janice and Graeme McKenzie were runners up with 40 points. Stacey Thomas was the women’s nearest the pin winner.
Our women’s SWDA division 5 played at Anglesea against Torquay (2) and lost 2/3. Our winning players were Vicki Hannah 7/5 and Stacey Thomas 2 up.
Bob Bedson won the chicken run with 21 points. Richard Stone was runner up with 20 points.
The chicken run win was shared by David Hand and Richard Stone with 19 points The women’s Otway pennant at Lorne was won by Apollo Bay who defeated Clifton Springs 4-1, which now places Apollo Bay second on the ladder.
The mixed event was cancelled due to extreme temperature.
