A dinner dance with 70’ and 80’s music will be our first function held in the newly renovated club house. Dress in era appropriate costume is optional. Saturday 13 th April at the clubhouse, Members $40, non-members $50 includes a 2 course meal and the bar will be open for drinks. Women’s partner’s game of Pinehurst. Gladys Riches and Margaret Smith won with a score of 53-12-41 on a countback from Sami Oguzhan and Sandra Toone with exactly the same score. Jean Hansen and Dawn Thomas won the putting with 19 putts.
Mixed 4BBB. The winners were the brother and sister team of Craig McKenzie and Vicki Hannah with 44 points. Craig also won nearest the in. Their parents, Janice and Graeme McKenzie were runners up with 40 points. Stacey Thomas was the women’s nearest the pin winner.
Our women’s SWDA division 5 played at Anglesea against Torquay (2) and lost 2/3. Our winning players were Vicki Hannah 7/5 and Stacey Thomas 2 up.
Bob Bedson won the chicken run with 21 points. Richard Stone was runner up with 20 points.
18 holes stroke competition saw Margaret Smith play to her handicap to win A Grade 88/68 and the runner up was Janice McKenzie with 97/71. Janice also won the A grade putting with 28 putts. In B grade Jan Shaw won with 103/71 and Sami Oguzhan was runner up with 108/73. Jeanette Dodds had 30 putts to win B grade putting. Margaret Smith scooped the pool by winning the Monthly Medal, best gross, and the first round of the Silverspoon and Mona McLeod brooch.
Men’s 4-weeker #2 round 4 competition. A Grade was won by Bob Bedson, 73/62 and runner-up was Don O’Meara, 80/64, Don also won the nearest the pin on 1 st /10 th while Peter Tovey had the closest shot on 9 th /18 th hole. In B Grade Bill Buckley’s winning score was 82/62 and runner-up was Ray Matthews 87/66. Bruce Thomas was nearest the pin on 1 st /10 th hole and Bill Buckley was the closest on the 9 th /18 th hole. The overall winners of the 4 weeker were Geoff Vesey for A grade and Bob Bedson in B grade, both with a score of 195.
Five of our women headed to Ocean Grove to play in the Otway Pennant Shield Day. Martha Macintyre won the best score of the day with 34 stablepoints on a countback from Suzanne Neill from Lorne. Lyn Box had a wonderful shot to win the nearest the pin on the 1 st , only to miss getting a hole in one by 7 cms. Lorne won the shield and Apollo Bay had the next best team score.
The women played a team game of Gentsomes. The winning team were Nelly O’meara and Dawn Thomas with 36 points. Vicki Hannah and Marie Murnane were runners up with 33 points and the next best team were Sami Oguzhan and Marlene Verey with 29 points.
